The most anticipated match in the world of club football will finally be on free TV in the Philippines. ABS-CBN will be airing the classic duel between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona featuring football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi LIVE from the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday (December 23) at 7:50 pm on S+A.

The upcoming Clasico will be the first for the 2017/18 season for two of the most popular football clubs in the world. Messi’s Azulgrana side took the most recent Clasico early 2017 last April, leading the Catalans to a 3-2 victory behind a brace from their star center fielder.

Making the event more special is the impending showdown of two of this generation’s finest football players in Ronaldo and Messi. The duo both have five Balon d’Or trophies, an honor given to the best male football player of the previous year. Both also hold various scoring records in the teams and leagues they play in.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, is coming off a successful title-retention bid in the 2017 Club World Cup, beating Brazilian side Gremio, 1-0. The Los Blancos is the first team in the history of the Club World Cup to repeat as champions. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona is stitting atop the La Liga table once more and looks to pounce on its Champions League draw to try and dethrone Real Madrid, and look to draw strength from their midfield play to capitalize on their two-headed monster up front with Messi and Luis Suarez.

ABS-CBN Integrated Sports announced its partnership with Hong Kong-based holdings company Triple CH last November for the live telecast on free television of top-quality European club football action. Filipino football fans have been able to watch world-class football in the EPL, often claimed to be the most popular football league in the world, Spain’s top-flight football league La Liga, and the battleground of all the best football clubs in Europe, the UEFA Champions League since December 1.

Don’t miss the biggest match to close football’s 2017 as Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona clash in an El Clasico on Saturday (December 23) at 7:50 pm on S+A. For more information and stories, visit ABS-CBN’s sports hub sports.abs-cbn.com and follow @ABSCBNSports on Facebook and Twitter.
