Captain Barbell, Darna, Lastikman’s comeback gets under way

The Kapamilya network brings to life well-loved characters in Philippine comics — Darna, Captain Barbell and Lastikman — through its partnership with several companies, its initial batch of licensees, for the new Ravelo Komiks Superheroes brand.

ABS-CBN chief content officer Charo Santos-Concio, retail, licensing and storefronts head Ina Quiogue, licensing head Karen Coloma, and licensing cluster 1 head Julie Ann Gutierrez led the contract signing ceremony held at the network’s compound.

Fans can look forward to new toys and games, clothing, food and beverage, collectibles and novelty items carrying illustrations inspired by the characters created by the late Mars Ravelo during the Golden Age of Philippine comics.

Must-have Darna, Captain Barbell, Lastikman and Valentina statues, 20-inch limited edition premium collectibles are now available along with the coolest card game, “Darna At Ang Nawawalang Bato.”

ABS-CBN’s latest offering also includes popular gifts and favorite souvenir picks like tumblers, keychains, magnets, pouches, bagtags and pillows.

Captain Barbell and Lastikman toys, Darna dolls, and other Ravelo character-inspired toys will soon be created, as well as an exciting mobile Ravelo Komiks game app to be released early next year.

Also coming soon is an exciting array of products in the beauty, fashion and home category, as well as a superhero-themed gourmet popcorn.

The new comics-inspired brand targets toy collectors, comics enthusiasts, children and families who are looking forward to the rebirth of these pop culture icons. Products will be available in various distribution channels such as bookstores, department stores and toy stores nationwide.

Aside from the consumer products carrying this latest offering, the popular Pinoy superhero characters will be seen in other ABS-CBN platforms – television, film, various digital platforms, etc. — in the next few years. For more information on ABS-CBN merchandise, visit www.abs-cbnstore.com.
