Alab Pilipinas-Singapore Slingers Round Two on ABS-CBN S+A

A revitalized Tanduay-Alab Pilipinas gets another crack at their rivals, the Singapore Slingers, this Sunday (January 7) in enemy territory at the OCBC Arena in Singapore. Fans can catch the game LIVE at 4 pm on S+A and S+A HD with a replay at primetime at 8 pm.

Alab is going for its third straight win in the tournament when they face Singapore, which drew first blood in the budding rivalry when they paid Alab a visit in Laguna last November 29, 97-83. This time, however, the Philippine contingent will be powered by new reinforcements Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman, who led the team in downing the Westports Malaysia Dragons last Wednesday (January 3), 90-79.

Playing fresh off the plane, Brownlee had quite the debut when he stuffed the stat sheets with 28 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and two blocks while Balkman, the former NBA journeyman who is making his way back to the Philippines, put up 17 markers and hauled down a team-leading 11 rebounds.

Reigning ABL MVP, and Tanduay-Alab superstar Bobby Ray Parks is thankful for the arrival of the two high-impact reinforcements as he can now focus on the defensive side of the game, being the primary stopper of the opposing team’s leading scorer.

“Balkman and Brownlee are athletic, and they make us get up and down the floor, making us a way faster team, it’s a great fit. They’re great talents, which makes everything easier in facilitating and creating and at I can focus more on putting pressure on opposing guards,” he said.

Veteran gunner Dondon Hontiveros agreed with the reigning ABL MVP, and praised the versatility and experience of the two new imports.

“We needed imports who are fast. With Justin and Balkman, these are the types of guys that (Coach) Jimmy wants for our team, they can switch and guard multiple positions aside from creating their own offense. Aside from that, they have experience, with Brownlee coming off a championship and Balkman from a stellar tour of duty overseas, with national team stints,” the Cebuano hotshot said.

Meanwhile, the Slingers, who will be hosting the second game between the two teams, will also be parading a new world import in former Hi-Tech Bangkok City reinforcement Christien Charles to replace Canadian Ryan Wright to man the paint for the 2016-2017 ABL Finalists. The two-time World Import MVP and ABL all-time blocks leader will team up with Xavier Alexander and Fil-Canadian AJ Mandani in trying to derail Tanduay-Alab’s winning run.

Don’t miss the fireworks at the OCBC Arena in Singapore as Alab Pilipinas looks to steal one win in enemy territory against 2016-2017 ABL finalists Singapore Slingers in the continuation of the ABL action this Sunday (January 7) LIVE on S+A and S+A HD at 4 pm with a primetime replay at 8 pm. ALAB PILIPINAS-SINGAPORE SLINGERS ROUND TWO SA ABS-CBN S+A
