After creating Philippine cinema history by winning the prestigious Golden Lion for Best Film award at the recent Venice Film Festival, Lav Diaz’s “Ang Babaeng Humayo” once again created a buzz among movie critics, this time, at the film’s North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Internationally acclaimed Filipino independent filmmaker Lav Diaz’ film “Ang Babaeng Humayo” (“The Woman Who Left”) won the prestigious Golden Lion for Best Film, the highest honor given at the 73rd Venice Film Festival last Saturday (Sep 10).
Cinema One Originals and Sine Olivia-produced movie “Ang Babaeng Humayo” (The Woman Who Left), the comeback film of Charo Santos with multi-awarded actor John Lloyd Cruz, is the only Asian film in the Main Competition category to be screened in the 2016 Venice Film Festival this coming August 31 to September 10 in Lido, Venice.
