DLSU pride Enchong Dee and Renren Ritualo remember their glory years on S+A’s “University Town”

Before Renren Ritualo became a professional basketball player and a sports analyst, and before Enchong Dee made a name as an actor and a recording star, they were first known as premier student-athletes of De La Salle University (DLSU).

Join them as they look back at their days as kings of UAAP basketball and swimming, respectively on “University Town” with hosts Robi Domingo and Gretchen Ho on S+A and S+A HD tonight (August 14) at 7:30pm.

Before diving into the world of show business, Dee was one of the country’s rising swimmers, winning competitions left and right as a young tanker from Naga. Little did he know that he will be setting records as a DLSU tanker in the UAAP, a run which included a Rookie of the Year award, three MVPS, and a UAAP record seven gold medals in one season.

Ritualo, on the other hand, became a household name when he starred as one of Coach Franz Pumaren’s champion Green Archers. Renren was at the forefront of La Salle’s charge after the departure of Mark Telan and Don Allado. The “Rainman,” as he was called back in the day for pouring in three after three, left the Taft-based school with four UAAP titles in a dominant run. Find out what’s keeping Enchong and Renren busy nowadays and how they still get to continue their passion for sports.

Meanwhile, from two of the school’s best student-athletes, Robi and Gretchen will also feature two of its finest student-artists today in Angle Torres of the DLSU Animo Squad and Sam Libao of the UAAP streetdance competition champion La Salle Dance Company. Angie and Sam will talk about their “winning formula” in delivering outstanding performances for their school, while DLSU president, Bro. Raymundo Suplido RSC, Phd will explain the origin of the DLSU chant “Animo” and what their iconic “Green Archer” monicker stands for.

Robi and Gretchen will also visit the “secret weapon” of the UAAP defending champion Green Archers, Teddy Fabian, who is instrumental in keeping the entire basketball team fit and physically sound, and will catch up with other outstanding squads under the school’s athletic program, like its poomsae and table tennis teams.

Student leader Zed Laqui from the DLSU’s famed School of Economics, on the other hand,  will tour the duo to famous landmarks in the campus. According to Lacqui, his school, which is now on its 106th year, gives students the opportunity to contribute to society. He said that in one of his classes, they went outside to conduct research guided by the theories they learned in class. Afterwards, they developed policies, which they tried to implement in the community they wanted to help.

This is the sixth school that “University Town” gets to explore this season, on its second year of featuring the eight schools competing in the country’s premier collegiate league, the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). “U-Town” airs every Sunday at 1pm with a primetime telecast on Mondays.

Don’t miss the chance to get to know more about the Taft-based school as Robi Domingo and Gretchen Ho, along with Kapamilya actor and matinee idol Enchong Dee and DLSU basketball legend Renren Ritualo, take viewers on a tour inside DLSU “University Town” on S+A and S+A HD tonight (August 14) at 7:30pm.
