National Collegiate Athletic Association Season ‘93 pits key players from participating schools for All-Star Games

It’s going to be a battle between the celebrated players under the Team Heroes and Team Saints at the longest-running collegiate league in the Philippines, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season ‘93’s All Star Games, airing live via S + A, with live airing as well on TFC online (www.TFC.tv) on September 1, (Manila time) in key countries worldwide.

 

Part of NCAA’s Season ‘93’s quick break after the first round of games for this period, the day-long friendly matches and exhibitions, featuring the players from the ten basketball teams, will happen at the San Juan Arena, in San Juan City, Philippines.

 

Both annual activities of the collegiate league hope to keep the youth’s interest in sports, as articulated in this season’s theme “Reignite: Bolder. Braver. Stronger.”

During the opening ceremony of the season, host school San Sebastian College-Recoletos’ President Reverend Fr. Nemesio Tolentin, Order of Augustinian Recollects (OAR) said: “This season, we reignite the love and passion of the youth for sports”.

Highlight of the day-long exhibition is the All Star Games of the “Team Heroes vs. Team Saints” game, where players from different schools will battle it out in a friendly match.
The Team Heroes is composed of Michael Kent Salado, Allen Enriquez, and Lervin Flores from Arellano University; Sidney Onwubere, Jerome Garcia, and Francis Munsayac from Emilio Aguinaldo University; Gio Lasquety, John Ervin Grospe, and Bernade Teodoro from Jose Rizal University; CJ Perez, Mer Jesper Ayaay, and Mike Nzeusseu of Lyceum of the Philippines; and Laurenz Paul Victoria, Christian Bunag, and Buenaventura Raflores, Jr. from Mapua University.
Meantime, Team Saints is composed of Rey Nambatac, Bong Quinto, and John Paul Calvo of Colegio San Juan de Letran; JJ Domingo, Edward Dixon, and Gerald Castor of College of Saint Benilde; Davon Potts, Robert Bolick, and Jayvee Mocon of San Beda College; Alvin Baetiong, Ian Carlo Valdez, and John Kevin Baytan of San Sebastian College-Recoletos; and Prince Eze, John Genmar Ylagan, and Gabriel Dagangon of University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA.
NCAA fans can also look forward to the other All Star Games activities:

  • In “Shooting Stars”, the ten teams will select three players who will undergo on-court challenges. The top two teams with the best time will compete for the final round.

 

  • The “Skills Challenge” tests the shooting skills of the participating players, challenging them to several rounds where two players with the best time will compete for the final round.

 

  • The best three-pointers of the teams will compete head-on in the “Three-Pt. Shoot Out”, where the player with the most three-point score in the shortest time wins.

 

  • Another favorite is the “Slam Dunk Contest”, where participating players will show off their best slam dunk exhibition. The winner will be determined by the judges’ scores.

Maghaharap sa National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season ‘93 All Star Games ang kilalang players ng participating colleges sa ilalim ng Team Heroes at Team Saints, na mapapanood nang live via S + A at live rin sa TFC online (www.TFC.tv) sa key countries worldwide ngayong September 1 (Manila time).
Bahagi ng season break ng NCAA matapos ang first round ng mga laro ng sampung kopunan,  pagsasama-samahin sa isang friendly match ang mga manlalaro mula sa iba’t ibang kolehiyo, na mangyayari sa San Juan Arena, sa San Juan City, Metro Manila.

Layunin ng taon-taong mga aktibidad na ito ang mapanatili ang interes ng mga kabataan sa sports, na napapaloob sa tema ngayong season na “Reignite: Bolder. Braver. Stronger.”.

Ayon sa President ng host school na San Sebastian College-Recoletos na si Reverend Fr. Nemesio Tolentin, OAR: “This season, we reignite the love and passion of the youth for sports (Ngayong season, muli nating bubuhayin ang pagmamahal at hilig ng mga kabataan sa sports)”.
Ang pinakainaabangang bahagi ng All Star Games ay ang “Team Heroes vs. Team Saints” game, kung saan magsasama-sama ang mga manlalaro mula sa iba’t-ibang kolehiyo at sa bawa’t koponan.

Sigurado rin na lalong kabibiliban ng mga NCAA fans sa mga manlalaro sa mga sumusunod na exhibition games:

 

  • Ang “Shooting Stars” kung saan ang sampung kopunan ay pipili ng tig-tatlong manlalaro na gagawa ng on-court challenges. Ang dalawang kopunan na may pinakamaigsing oras ang maghaharap sa final round.

 

  • Masusubok naman ang shooting skills ng mga manlalaro sa “Skills Challenge”, kung saan ang mga kalahok na manlalaro ay gagawin ang ilang shooting challenges. Ang dalawang manlalaro na makakakuha nang pinakamaikling oras ang magtatapat sa final round.

 

  • Magpapasikblaban naman ang mga three-pointers ng bawat kopunan sa “3-Pt. Shoot Out”, kung saan ang manlalaro na makakuha nang pinakamataas na score sa pinakamaikling oras ang magwawagi.

 

  • Marami rin ang nakaabang sa nakamamahang slam dunk exhibitions ng mga manlalaro sa “Slam Dunk Contest”, kung saan ang magwawagi ay ang makakakuha nang pinakamataas na puntos mula sa mga judges.
