NCAA All-Star Game to fire off on S+A

The best players of NCAA Season 93 will get to showcase their skills and bond with fans as the country’s oldest collegiate league fires off its NCAA 93 All Star Game ‪this Friday (September 1), with the side events and the All-Star Game airing LIVE on ABS-CBN S+A and S+A HD on cable, with livestreaming on ‪sports.abs-cbn.com starting at ‪1:30pm.

The league will be split up into two teams for the All-Star Game with Arellano University (AU), Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), Jose Rizal University (JRU), Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), and Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT) comprising Team Heroes with coach Topex Robinson of LPU, while Team Saints of San Beda College (SBC) coach Boyet Fernandez will feature SBC, NCAA Season 93 host San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R), Colegio De San Juan de Letran (CSJL), University of Perpetual Help System – DALTA (UPHSD), and College of Saint Benilde (CSB). Kapamilya actor and singer Inigo Pascual will be performing during the halftime of the star-studded match.

Starting off Friday’s (September 1) festivities would be the side shows featuring the Skills Challenge, Shooting Stars, Three-point Shootout, and Slam Dunk Contest.

Lacing up for the Skills Challenge and trying to beat the obstacle course are Michael Are of hosts SSC-R, Ranbill Tongco of SBC, Jeremiah Taladua of Letran Unique Naboa of CSB, Karl Bordon of JRU, Francis Munsayac of EAC, Keith Pido of UPHSD, JC Marcelino of Lyceum, Levi Dela Cruz of AU, and JP Nieles of Mapua.

Meanwhile, the Shooting Stars challenge will see each school suiting up one of their current Seniors Men’s Basketball team with an active Juniors player and a legend, who is a former player of the school. Each team will try to outscore each other as they try to make baskets from different areas of the court to amass points.

The Three-point shootout happening after that boasts of the league’s fearless gunslingers as they try to sink the most buckets from long range. Lining up in the firing range are RK Ilagan (SSC-R), AC Soberano (SBC), Jerrick Balanza (CSJL), Matt Johnson (CSB), Lloyd Castor (JRU), Sidney Onuwebere (EAC), Jack Hao (UPHSD), Wilson Baltazar (LPU), Brylle Meca (AU), and Almel Orquina (MU).

The much-awaited Slam Dunk Contest, meanwhile, brings a star-studded judging lineup comprised of Philippine basketball legend Jimmy Alapag, Alab Pilipinas’ and national team player Bobby Ray Parks Jr., comedian Empoy, Kapamilya actress Ria Atayde, and a representative from the NCAA Press Corps. Taking flight to the rim will be Allyn Bulanadi (SSC-R), Arnaud Noah (SBC), Renato Ular (CSJL), Justin Gutang (CSB), Jefferson Sarmiento (JRU), Rustan Bugaria (UPHSD), Yancy Remulla (LPU), and Lervin Flores (AU).

Meanwhile, NCAA recently wrapped up the first leg of its “NCAA on Tour,” which brought the games to NCAA schools like host SSC-R, AU, MU, CSJL, EAC, and UPHSD. A new feature introduced this season, the “NCAA ON Tour” roused the school spirit among schools in the NCAA community and featured side events like performances of Kapamilya singers like Kaye Cal and the Harana Boys, which includes Kapamilya hunks Joseph Marco, Michael Pangilinan, and Marlo Mortel that attracted huge crowds in every campus.

Susundan naman ng Three-point Shoot Out ang Shooting Stars Challenge kung saan magpapakitang-gilas naman ang mga shooter ng liga.
