THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER ANNOUNCES PIONEERING MYX TV REALITY SERIES WITH ASPIRING ACTORS COMPETING FOR THEIR BIG BREAK

The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the definitive interpretive voice of the entertainment industry, featured an exciting announcement from Myx TV, a leading cable network targeting Asian Americans: part of the summer/fall programming slate that the network greenlighted recently includes what it described as the “first competition series for aspiring actors and actresses competing for their big break”.

In the article by George Johnston, THR wrote that the new show, Cast Me!, will put contestants through unusual and eccentric auditions with casting directors as they pursue roles in upcoming television commercials, movies or music videos. The show will be based in Los Angeles at David Kang Casting (DK Casting), which has cast talent for clients including Taylor Swift, Usher, Mountain Dew and Samsung.

“This is a competition series that hasn’t been done yet,” saidMiguel Santos, general manager of Myx TV. “We’ve seen the singers, chefs, entrepreneurs and models all get their shot at achieving their dream. Cast Me! will give audiences a chance to see actors strive for their big break.”

The judges include DK Casting co-owners David Kang and Becky Wu, former Australia’s Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester and former Latino child star and casting director German Legarreta. The show isexecutive produced by Harlan Freedman, Kang, Charles Kim and Raymond Watt. Santos is executive producing for Myx TV.

Meanwhile, reality show The Doll Life has been given a second-season renewal. This series gives audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the Asian dolly fashion house Dolldelight. This season, Dolldelight designer Cyril Lumboy and her models face cyber-bulling, racism and broken trust.

Also returning for a second season is video-compilation series XRC, featuring “high-speed speed car chases, nerve-racking rescues and the most gripping, adrenaline-filled, nail-biting reality footage available.”

Meanwhile, Myx TV has acquired two shows: Spice to Life, in which Top Chef alums Sheldon Simeon and Sally Camacho, along with other chefs and restaurateurs, share their love for food, culture, people and their communities; and Design+Story, which the stories of artists as they go through the journey of crafting their art.

Myx TV also is set to air several Asian romance movies this summer, including film festival favorite 100 Days, box-office hit Love and the award-winning Korean film Paju. Meanwhile, horror and suspense movie block Shiver and Shake returns in the fall with titles including Hide and Go Kill from Japan and Be With Me from Korea.

Myx TV was launched in 2007 and is broadcasted in more than 15 million homes across the United States on cable and satellite providers such as Comcast, Time Warner, Cox and DirecTV.
