UAAP Women’s Volleyball rockets off this Saturday on ABS-CBN S+A

 

The Philippines’ top volleyball league is back. The UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament opens on Saturday (February 3) with a doubleheader that will be aired LIVE from the SM Mall of Asia Arena on ABS-CBN S+A, S+A HD, and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com.

 

Jema Galanza and the Adamson Lady Falcons (AdU) take the floor against National University Lady Bulldogs (NU) led by superstar Jaja Santiago in the tournament’s curtain-raiser at 2 pm. Defending champions De La Salle University Lady Spikers (DLSU) and stars Kim Dy and Des Cheng, meanwhile, open their title defense against Cherry Rondina and the rest of the UST Golden Tigresses in the day’s main event at 4 pm.


On Sunday (February 4), the University of the Philippines Lady Fighting Maroons (UP) takes on the University of the East Lady Red Warriors (UE) at 2 pm. UAAP Season 80 hosts, the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws (FEU), on the other hand, gun for an opening-weekend win against last season’s finalist, the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles (ADMU) at 4 pm.

 

Through the years, the UAAP women’s volleyball has become one of the most-watched sporting events in the country whether on television, online, and on-ground. It has produced superstars like Rachel Anne Daquis, Abi Marano, Mika Reyes, Gretchen Ho, and Alyssa Valdez, who have inspired young Filipinas by showing them how sports can empower women to greatness.

This season, expected to carry the torch for them are the likes of ADMU’s Maddie Madayag, Bea De Leon, and Jho Maraguinot; UP’s Isa Molde and Diana Carlos; UE’s Shaya Adorador and Roselle Baliton; NU’s Risa Sato, Aiko Urdas, and Santiago; AdU’s Christine Soyud and Galanza; FEU’s Bernadeth Pons and Jerrili Malabanan; and DLSU’s Majoy Baron, Dy, and Cheng.

 

Meanwhile, in the Men’s Division, the AdU Falcons take on the NU Bulldogs at 8 am followed by the DLSU Spikers going up against the UST Growling Tigers at 10 am. On Sunday (February 4), the UP Fighting Maroons – UE Red Warriors tiff happens at 8 am, while the UAAP Season 80 host FEU Tamaraws faces the defending champion ADMU Blue Eagles at 10 am. S+A and S+A HD will air the 10 am games in men’s volleyball LIVE. Muli nang mapapanood ang pinakasikat na liga ng volleyball sa Pilipinas sa pagbubukas ng UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament ngayong Sabado (Pebrero 3) tampok ang dalawang matitinding laro na eere ng LIVE mula sa SM Mall of Asia Arena sa ABS-CBN S+A, S+A HD, at via livestream sa sports.abs-cbn.com.

 

Unang sasabak sa aksyon sa 2 pm sina Jema Galanza at ang Adamson Lady Falcons (AdU) at ang National University Lady Bulldogs (NU) sa pangunguna ni superstar Jaja Santiago. Magsisimula naman ng pagdepensa sa korona ang kampeon na De La Salle University Lady Spikers (DLSU) sa likod nina Kim Dy at Des Cheng kontra kay Cherry Rondina at ang UST Golden Tigresses pagpatak ng 4 pm.


Sa Linggo (Pebrero 4) naman, maglalaban ang University of the Philippines Lady Fighting Maroons (UP) at University of the East Lady Red Warriors (UE) ng 2 pm. Isa na ang UAAP women’s volleyball sa mga pinakatinututukang liga sa bansa, mapa-telebisyon man, online o sa mismong mga venue. Dito sumikat ang mga tulad nina Rachel Anne Daquis, Abi Marano, Mika Reyes, Gretchen Ho, at Alyssa Valdez, na nagsisilbing inspirasyon sa mga batang Pilipina sa pagpapakita na maaaring maabot ang mga pangarap sa buhay sa pamamagitan ng sports.

Samantala, magsisimula na rin ang labanan sa men’s division bukas (Pebrero 3) sa pangunguna ng AdU Falcons at NU Bulldogs sa 8 am at DLSU Spikers at UST Growling Tigers ng 10 am. Maglalaban naman sa Linggo (Pebrero 4) ng 8 am ang UP Fighting Maroons at UE Red Warriors, habang bubuksan ng ADMU Blue Eagles ang kanilang pagdepensa ng titulo kontra UAAP Season 80 host na FEU Tamaraws ng 10 am. Mapapanood ang mga laban sa 10 am ng LIVE sa S+A at S+A HD. Samantalang ang mga 8 am na laro, kabilang ang iba pang laban sa men’s at women’s volleyball ay ipapalabas din sa bagong sports channel ng ABS-CBN na LIGA sa SKY cable channel 86, SKY cable channel 183, at Sky Direct channel 14.
